Nothing to wear? Think again.
Shopping your closet is one of the best ways to create a “new” wardrobe on a budget (it’s free!). If you are unfamiliar with this concept, it is exactly what it sounds like: shopping in your own closet. Rediscovering clothes you haven’t worn in ages, and creating new ways to wear the ones you love. You will be amazed as to what can be done with what you have.
Here are a few ways that I have shopped my closet to create new ways to wear one garment.
This floral dress looks great on its own in the summer, and with a cardigan and thigh highs in the fall. It can also be worn as a “skirt” underneath this cropped pastel sweater.
This T-shirt dress is so comfortable, I wish I could wear it everyday of the week. One way to create a new look is to give it shape by tying a belt or chambray/flannel shirt around the waste. Alternatively, it can be tied it at the front and worn with jeans.
Even something as simple as wearing a sweater over top of a skirt rather than tucked in can give the illusion of a brand new outfit.
